As a sustainable brand and supporter of conscious consumption, we love working with materials that add value to both your wardrobe and the environment. Our summer fabrics are proof of this. Want to learn more about them? Then read on.

Cotton is an essential fabric in any wardrobe and even more so during the summer months. Depending on its weight, it can be warm and comfortable or cool and light, but it will always be respectful of your skin.

You can find two different types of cotton in our garments: organic and BCI.

Organic Cotton

Organic cotton is obtained through organic farming, without the use of any type of fertiliser or synthetic chemical product. All our organic cotton has the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certificate, which guarantees that the entire production process, from the cotton harvest to the finished garments, meets the strictest sustainability criteria.

BCI Cotton

At ALTER MADE we are proud to be part of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), which connects people and organisations in the cotton industry, from the field to the stores, to promote continuous and measurable improvements for the environment, farming communities and the economy of the areas where cotton is produced.

Why do we like it?

  • It's breathable and wicks away excess moisture from the skin
  • It is hypoallergenic and respectful of the skin, especially when it is organic
  • It is one of the most comfortable fabrics that exists thanks to its softness
  • Depending on its weight, you can create light and fresh garments or thick and comfortable ones
  • It is a strong fabric that can hold up to being washed and the passage of time

Cotton at ALTER MADE

We have used organic cotton to make our T-shirts, Tops and Knitwear. You can find BCI cotton in all our Denim, including our Bermuda shorts and Overshirts. Our Water-resistant Trench coat is also made from BCI cotton.

When we think of summer, we think of linen. This fabric of plant origin is obtained from the flax plant, and is considered the oldest textile fibre used by humans. At ALTER MADE, we work with flax grown and spun in Spain, which also has the European Flax Certificate, guaranteeing that the fabric comes from high-quality European flax. It also ensures its traceability at every step of the production process, from the flax seed to the finished product.

Why do we like it?

  • It is a premium, very high quality fibre
  • It is grown organically and sustainably
  • It is cool and lightweight but elegant at the same time
  • It goes very well with other natural fabrics, such as cotton
  • It is breathable, antibacterial and moisture wicking
  • It is resistant and durable, it will remain in your wardrobe for years, looking as good as brand new

In our selection of linen garments, you'll find oversized shirts, long trousers and shorts

It looks like silk, but it's so much better. Cupro is a regenerated cellulose fibre obtained from cotton seeds, a material of sustainable and biodegradable origin. It stands out for its freshness, lightness and a silky touch that could easily be confused with silk. To manufacture our cupro garments, we have applied a wash to the fabric to reduce its shine and make it more versatile, which is why it is perfect to wear on any occasion.

Why do we like it?

There are so many reasons to love cupro, but these are ours:

  • It's the sustainable alternative to silk
  • It doesn't wrinkle
  • It doesn't stick to your body or show your underwear
  • It is flowy and accompanies your movements in a very elegant way
  • It is fresh and light, with a silky touch
  • Our cupro garments are very versatile, so you can create relaxed outfits for everyday wear or super elegant looks for special occasions.

We have created a very varied selection of cupro garments that you can mix and match with each other. You'll find slip dresses, midi skirts, trousers and tops.

Our summer poplin is made from 100% cotton. We have used the highest quality yarn for a spectacular finish: thin, light and soft, less crisp than winter poplin and much more comfortable to wear in the warmer months. We have created slightly looser silhouettes so that the garments don't stick to your body and are much more comfortable.

Why do we like it?

  • It retains all the advantages and comfort of cotton in a very stylish finish
  • It's so lightweight you won't even notice you're wearing it
  • It wrinkles much less than traditional poplin
